Honor Flights – 17 SEP 2022
September 17 @ 09:30 - 15:30 EDT
There will be veterans arriving in buses from the list below. For many of the WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans, this may be their first and last trip to visit the memorials created for them. Our goal is to salute
and welcome them as they visit the memorials.
All available cadets should arrive at the World War II Memorial muster area in uniform to meet the veterans when they arrive to thank them for their service and give them a warm welcome greeting.
NSCC – SD White
NLCC – Summer White (Salt/Pepper) / SD White (TSRM)
Adult – Staff Dress Whites/Alt, Navy over Khaki
Muster near the WWII Memorial: 0830-0850

for a briefing at the
Home Front Drive entrance walkway and set the 1st rotation for color guard. Then we will march in together in position line the path for the veterans.[table “” not found /]
The veterans will offload from the buses and be greeted and then the cadets will salute them as they pass through the walkway and escort them to the memorial if needed. Cadets will have opportunities to interact with
veterans as they visit the memorials. The veterans will be arriving from around 09:30 until 3:00 between the three memorials. The big welcome for them is done at the World War II Memorial, so that is where our cadets who plan to participate will be staged. We will rotate color guards and saluting cadets as they welcome the veterans. Cadets should bring snacks/lunch/water to eat during breaks.
General parking is available on West Basin Drive, on Ohio Drive SW, and at the Tidal Basin parking lot along Maine Ave., SW. Handicap parking and bus loading zone are available on Home Front Drive SW, accessed from southbound 17th St.
